2006 Carlisle Russian River Valley “Carlo’s Ranch” Zinfandel (previous name for Carlisle’s Papera Ranch)

  2. ‣Wine Spectator - 92 Points - This full-throttle Zinfandel is powerful yet has the richness and acidity to still show finesse, displaying bold aromas of blueberry and smoky licorice, with ripe wild berry, dill and toasty vanilla flavors that finish with stout tannins. There's a slight burn of heat at the end. Drink now through 2013. 161 cases made.


2006 Novy Zinfandel Russian River Valley Papera Ranch

  1. ‣Wine Spectator - 87 Points - Brooding and concentrated, showing blueberry and mint aromas, with huckleberry, licorice and spice flavors that finish with chunky tannins. Best from 2009 through 2012. 97 cases made.

  2. ‣Wine Enthusiast - 91 Points - A terrific Zin, bone dry and rich, with pepper-infused flavors of roasted blackberries, grilled beef, tamari, dark chocolate, anise and Chinese 5-spice flavors that go on and on into a long finish. High in alcohol but balanced, it exemplifies Zin’s distinct, briary personality.

  1. ‣Wine Spectator - 88 Points - Rustic and full of bass notes, but fleshes out beautifully if you're patient. Offers aromas of blueberry, tar and smoky oak, with bold flavors of licorice, cracked pepper and blackberry 50 cases made.

  1. ‣Wine Spectator - 88 Points - Clean, ripe and fruity, with a pretty, complex array of plum and blackberry, cedar and spice. Firm tannins. Drink now through 2004. 400 cases made.


1996 DeLoach Zinfandel Russian River Valley Papera Ranch

  1. ‣Wine Spectator - 87 Points - Pleasant for its wild berry, anise, sage and raspberry notes, finishing with firm tannins. This moderately rich wine shows more intensity and focus than the Gambogi; still could use more depth and complexity. 400 cases made.


1995 DeLoach Zinfandel Russian River Valley Papera Ranch

  1. ‣Wine Spectator - 90 Points - Ripe and full-bodied, with jammy wild berry, cherry and plum flavors and hints of pepper and spice. Packs in lots of flavor and has a long, complex aftertaste that echoes fruit notes, especially berries. Enjoyable now, but can age into 1998 or '99. 500 cases made.


1994 DeLoach Zinfandel Russian River Valley Papera Ranch

  1. ‣Wine Spectator - 87 Points - Slightly earthy and tannic, but enough wild berry and cherry flavor emerges to achieve a nice balance, finishing in a tart, berry edge. 500 cases made.


1993 DeLoach Zinfandel Russian River Valley Papera Ranch

  1. ‣Wine Spectator - 86 Points - Medium body and color, but the zesty, earthy berry and cherry flavors are elegant and well focused. Finishes with supple tannins. 500 cases made.


1991 DeLoach Zinfandel Russian River Valley Papera Ranch

  1. ‣Wine Spectator - 85 Points - Lean, tart and earthy, but also well focused, with austere, peppery raspberry, cherry and plum notes. A young wine, with plenty of lively acidity and firm tannins.


1990 DeLoach Zinfandel Russian River Valley Papera Ranch

  1. ‣Wine Spectator - 81 Points - Earthy flavors flit in and out as the ripe plum and cherry notes try to get focused on the palate. Winds up seeming unfocused and a bit murky. The flavors are fine, though. 504 cases made.
